Dare Me justified the tall home reputatation he enjoys at Philip Hobbs' yard by running away with the Bathwick Tyres Taunton Novices' Hurdle at Exeter.

Sent-off the 4-9 favourite, Richard Johnson's mount went onto score by 12 lengths despite never being asked a serious question.

"That was very satisfactory," said Hobbs. "Richard said he was a bit fresh and it wasn't ideal for him to be in front all the way but he showed he could run over two and a half, although he has the speed for two.

"If you were looking at the Paddy Power meeting at Cheltenham he might need another run in between, so we'll have a think."

Dare Me was cut to 16-1 by Coral and Paddy Power for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle next March.
