Grands Crus: Second smooth victory in the space of a week.
6-4 favourite Grands Crus ran away with the 40% Better Off On Betfair SP Fixed Brush Handicap Hurdle at Haydock,
David Pipe's charge was an impressive winner at the Open Meeting last weekend and was was turned out quickly before the handicapper could react.
It was a policy that was always going to be rewarded as he led the field turning for home.
Barafundle tried to stay with him down the straight and ran a gallant race in second but this was a one-horse contest from some way out.
"They've done a great job with him at home as he hasn't been the easiest horse to ride. He ran some good races last season and was good at Cheltenham last week," said Scudamore.
"I always thought he would stay the step up in trip but this was a step up in class as well and that didn't prove much of a problem either.
"What I was really pleased about was that he won a slowly-run race over two and a half miles at Cheltenham.
"He's won a fast-run race over three miles here, so it shows he's becoming more adaptable."
