Hidden Cyclone appreciated the step up in trip as he returned to winning ways in the Synergy Security Solutions Novice Hurdle.

Shark Hanlon's young prospect had suffered his first defeat over this course last month but he made amends with a smooth success in this Grade Two contest.

Fully Funded took them along until Andrew McNamara decided to make his own pace on the 7-4 favourite at halfway.

Ballyhaunis tried to go with the leader, but Hidden Cyclone had too much in the tank and easily overcame a slight mistake at the final flight to score by two lengths. Si C'Etait Vrai was third.

The winner was introcued to the Neptune Novices' Hurdle betting at 25-1 by Sky Bet.

Hanlon said: "We schooled him since the last time he run and he jumped pretty well.

"We wanted to get a lead but they were not going quick enough and Andrew did the right thing by going on.

"He won't ever go back in trip again. I'll have to talk it over with the owners but I'm not overly keen on going to Cheltenham.

"He needs cut in the ground, and I hope he'll make a top-class chaser.

"He'll probably have one more run this season."
