Battle Group landed the John Smith's smithythehorse.com Handicap Hurdle for David Pipe at Aintree on Friday.
Stablemate Buena Vista cut out much of the donkey work out in front but as he came under the pump in the straight, Battle Group cruised into the lead under Barry Geraghty.
The pair were five lengths clear of the running-on Ringaroses at the line who in turn was three-and-a-quarter-lengths ahead of the third Sir Harry Ormesher.
Fourth home was Cloudy Spirit at 17/2.
