Ransom Note made all to win the Weatherbys Earl Of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket.

Barry Hills' charge was sent off at 6-1 under Michael Hills and didn't see another rival as he dictated the gallop throughout.

The winning trainer said: "He was over the top by the time of the Cambridgeshire but there's no doubt he's a much better horse this year.

"The plan had been to go for the Huxley Stakes at Chester but I think that will be shelved and we'll look for something else.

"I plan to go globetrotting with him and 10 furlongs is his trip. He's a lovely and relaxed horse and he's done it well."

Andre Fabre's Polytechnicien (7-2) ran on well for second spot under French jockey Olivier Peslier.

Fabre said of the runner-up: "No excuses and he needs to drop back to a mile."

Favourite Elusive Pimpernel finished third under Ryan Moore,

Steele Tango finished fourth, with Forte Dei Marmi a disappointment further down the field.
