Charles Camoin: Epsom winner
Charles Camoin (10-1) won the Investec Horses Help The Heroes Handicap, the opening race on Derby day at Epsom, after a thrilling finish.
Sylvester Kirk won the contest two years ago with River Captain and he saddled the winner again thanks to a finely-judged ride from Liam Keniry who got up in the shadows of the post.
Eddie Ahern looked to have timed his challenge to perfection on Trojan Nights (6-1) but had to settle for second as the winner got up on his outside to prevail by a short head.
Boogie Shoes, the 9-4 favourite, was three quarters of a length further back in third.
Jockey Liam Keniry said: "He didn't come down the hill very well but as soon as they straightened up, he stayed on quite nicely.
"He was better for his first run."
Kirk added: "He ran well at Sandown last time over a mile but he needed the extra two furlongs.
"Today was his big target and we'll have to have a think where we go next."
