Immortal Verse won the Group Two Prix de Sandringham Stakes at Chantilly under Olivier Peslier.

The daughter of Pivotal had been beaten on all three starts since making a winning debut, including in the Poule D'Essai Des Pouliches, gained a valuable Pattern race success in the hands of Peslier.

The pair still had the whole field in front of them as they turned for home but Peslier eased his mount through the gaps to quicken well and overhaul pacesetter Sunday Nectar.

Mixed Intention also came through from the rear of the field to lay down a strong challenge throughout the final half furlong but Robert Collet's filly was always doing enough.

Immortal Verse could bid for a quick step back up to the highest level as she holds and entry for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The once-raced favourite, Peinture Abstraite, who represented the successful Prix du Jockey Club trainer and jockey was made to look rather onepaced in finishing third.

Perfect Tribute had broken track records in Britain on her two most recent starts but the filly gave trouble loading and refused to settle for Luke Morris and weakened tamely having raced in second.
