Margot Did: Struck at Ayr
Michael Bell's Margot Did won her second Listed prize in the space of a week when battling to victory in the Scottish News of The World EBF "Major Cadeaux" Land O'Burns Fillies' Stakes at Ayr.
Bell's three-year-old opened her account for the year when running away with last weekend's Scurry Stakes at Sandown, but the 10-11 favourite was made to work harder in Scotland.
The filly travelled strongly towards the front end in the hands of regular partner Hayley Turner, but was strongly challenged by Ladies Are Forever from over a furlong out.
Just as Margot Did had seen off that rival, Celerina came from out of the pack to challenge, but Turner punched her mount to the line and had a neck in hand passing the post.
