Twice Over: York winner
Sir Henry Cecil's Twice Over (5-2) bounced back to form when landing the Group Two Sky Bet York Stakes at York on Saturday.
The six-year-old ran below-par in the Lockinge and the Prince Of Wales' Stakes in his two previous starts in England this year but benefitted from the drop in class on the Knavesmire.
Tom Queally held him up in the rear and was going noticeably well halfway up the straight before he showed a smart turn of foot to sweep by the field on the outside.
Dominant and Class Is Class were still in the front rank as the field closed up in behind the winner with Ransom Note (12-1) staying on best of all for second.
Though the fight for second was a close one Twice Over put a length of daylight between himself and the rest as class prevailed in the end.
Queally said: "He's a very special horse to all of us. I'm delighted he's back to winning ways. He might have lost his way for a couple of races, but he's back where he belongs - in the winner's enclosure.
"It took him a few strides to get into top gear, but once he got there, there was no stopping him.
"He was the class horse in the race and he won like it."
Cecil's travelling head lad Michael McGowan said: "Henry has done a great job, he has brought him back fresh and that has obviously worked.
"Tom said he was never worried, and although he doesn't stay much further he gets the mile and a quarter really well.
"It's great to see him bounce back - every time we drop him a level he seems to come back to himself.
"I'm not sure what the plan is, maybe he will defend his Champion Stakes title."
