Hughes: Won aboard Beaten Up
William Haggas' Beaten Up was a well-backed winner of the Mollart Cox Classified Stakes, the closing race on day three of the St Leger meeting at Doncaster.
The once-raced half-brother to Harris Tweed was popular with the punters all day and was eventually sent off the 9-4 favourite in the 16-runner handicap.
And backers never had a moment of anxiety as Richard Hughes sat motionless on his charge throughout the closing stages before being pushed out for a facile four-length success.
Mashaaref (4-1) finished second with Valid Reason (66-1) three-and-a-half lengths further back in third.
Haggas said: "He's a nice horse, home-bred and the owner and breeder will be pleased!
"I've never seen a horse so bad with ringworm as he was after Ripon which is why he's been off so long.
"He's got potential but while he won nicely today they went no gallop which suited those up the front, which thankfully he was.
"He's a young horse with a future and he'll run again this season - but I've no idea where."
