Reliable Man returned to winning ways in the Qatar Prix Niel at Longchamp.

Alain de Royer-Dupre's charge lost his unbeaten record at the hooves of Meandre in the Grand Prix de Paris last time but always looked like taking his revenge on today's favourite here.

Gerald Mosse took the French Derby winner to the front at the furlong pole and he soon put daylight between himself and Meandre, who found only the one pace.

Vadamar finished third with Colombian running well for John Gosden in fourth.

Sky Bet were impressed with the winner and go 7s from 20s for the Arc.

Ground Key

Sven Hanson of the Pride Racing Club, who own the winner, said: "That was another good win. The ground was very hard in the Grand Prix, much harder than they said, and he found this much more suitable, he really showed his speed.

"We were not really sure if 10 or 12 furlongs was his best trip but he didn't seem to mind that.

"For the French the Arc is the main race to win, although you need a lot of luck."
