Night Alliance: Scores under Charlie Huxley
Night Alliance (15/2) won a tight finish to the CF Roberts Electrical Mechanical Services Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on Friday.
The six-year-old headbutted his trainer, Dr Richard Newland, in the paddock beforehand but still had enough energy to see off his rivals in the race.
He stayed on best of all up the hill under Charlie Huxley to beat That'lldoboy (2/1 favourite) by three-quaters-of-a-length with River d'Or (16/1) flashing home for third.
Dr Newland said afterwards: "They've stitched me up and I've watched it on the telly. He's won the race so I'll have to forgive him!"
"It was his first time over fences and I don't think it was the strongest race.
"I'll have to get him out again before he is reassessed so he's in at Newbury next Wednesday and I might give him another entry later in the week."
