Long-odds on favourire Golden Silver was an extremely fortunate winner of the Hilly Way Chase at Cork on Sunday.

The 10 time winner (including two Grade Ones) was sent off at 2-7 favourite for the Grade Two contest which was expected to be little more than a formality for the nine year old who sports the colours of Florida Pearl.

However, Willie Mullins' charge was around four lengths down and making no impression on the Robbie Moran ridden Osirixamix approaching the last only for Tony Martin's charge to get the fence all wrong.

Moran had no chance of keeping the partnership intact, allowing Emmet Mullins to pop the last and come home unchallenged to the relief of favourite backers.

Golden Silver was recording his third win in the contest having claimed the glory in 2009 and last year when the race was run at Fairyhouse.

The winning rider said: "He didn't jump at all for me early on.

"Osirixamix slipped the field down the back and we had to chase him. I think he was tying up in front and it all came down to the jump at the last."
