Smad Place made a successful return in the Bet Mobile At BetVictor.com Holloway's Hurdle at Ascot.

Alan King's grey had not been seen since the Triumph Hurdle last season but he was always travelling with purpose tucked in behind the pace.

Wayne Hutchinson started to make his move on the home turn and once the combination hit the front between the last two they readily stretched clear to beat the consistent Shoreacres by seven lengths.

Orzare made a pleasing return in third but his chance of first prize went with a bad blunder at the last.

Hats Off

Hutchinson said: "He's done it well and hats off to the boss.

"He was only beaten 11 lengths in the Triumph and the form is working out fantastic.

"He travelled well and jumped well."

King added: "He's had some problems and we never had him right last year. "He spent most of the winter on antibiotics, and although he did well in the summer, he went and threw a splint and we couldn't get him ready.

"He's a gorgeous horse and an exciting prospect who will make a lovely chaser."
