Stone Of Folca: Won 'the Dash' in a very fast time
Stone Of Folca was a surprise winner of the Investec Specialist Bank 'Dash' at Epsom.
The four year old was having his first start of the season and his first since being gelded as he obliged at odds of 50-1 over the fastest five furlongs in the country.
Luke Morris performed wonders to get across to the rail from his draw in two as the son of Kodiac showed blistering speed from the gates.
The other front-runners - Bear Behind, Captain Dunne and Oor Jock among them - gradually fell by the wayside but John Best's charge kept pulling out more.
The highly regarded Desert Law weaved his way through the field to try and lay down a challenge but the line came too soon for Andrew Balding's charge who came home in second with Catfish and Taajub filling the places.
Morris said: "He was a very high-class two-year-old and he's come back to form today. To do it from stall two was a hell of a performance."
Best said: "We thought he was a very good horse right from his early days, but things didn't work out for him last year and it was always very tough for him as a three-year-old.
"His brain hasn't always been in the right place, but the horse is very, very quick, I've said all along I think he's a faster horse than Kingsgate Native was.
"I couldn't be happier and we had him in the King's Stand (at Royal Ascot) in case he came out and did this, so we'll probably have to take our chances.
"Getting him out on to the track is not very good - it's like dealing with an untamed lion - but we did it today."
The winning time was the fastest ever electronically recorded.
