The well-backed Bonnie Brae stayed on strongly to win the 32Red Bunbury Cup at Newmarket.

David Elsworth's mare handles soft ground well and after the week's deluge at Headquarters, was right at home in a race run in another minor monsoon.

Ryan Moore held the 13-2 chance up just off the pace but the combination swept to the front inside the final two furlongs and galloped on powerfully to beat Captain Bertie by two lengths.

It was a further three parts of a length back to Captain Ramius in third place.

Moore said: "She ran a good race in the Victoria Cup and came there to win that day but it was too quick for her at Ascot.

"You can only ride your own race (when the field splits). I was aware the other horse was there but she held on.''
