Night Carnation: Won feature race at Bath on Saturday evening
Night Carnation was a ready winner of an eventful Hugo Boss Somersetshire Conditions Stakes at Bath on Saturday.
Jimmy Fortune had Andrew Balding's charge in the right place throughout the contest and that was to prove crucial.
In behind Ballesteros, who travelled strongly throughout, never found room to challenge while Regal Parade (17-2) was always playing catch-up after a tardy start.
He was to emerge as the main danger to the 2-1 favourite but Night Carnation was always doing enough in front and went on to score by a diminishing three-quarters of a length.
Rex Imperator, a big eyecatcher at York's Ebor Festival, was never a threat under James Doyle.
