Wild Coco: Ran on gamely to claim the DFS Park Hill Stakes
Sir Henry Cecil's Wild Coco followed up her victory at Glorious Goodwood with a gutsy success in the DFS Park Hill Stakes.
In a race known as the fillies' St Leger, Wild Coco looked a bit short of speed as the Queen's Royal Ascot winner Estimate kicked three lengths clear under Hanagan.
However, as they entered the final furlong the pack was closing, headed by Tom Queally and Wild Coco and she looked to be just getting going close home, showing that stamina really is her strong suit.
Queally said: "She's got a high cruising speed and I didn't want to get stopped in my run and have to build the revs up again.
"I needed room but I got it. She's tough and she battled well.
"If I'd been stopped we may have struggled. She's going the right way, she's very nice."
Owned by the German breeding operation Gestut Rottgen, she is the first horse they have had in training with Cecil.
Jocelyn de Moubray, representing the winning owners, said: "The idea of sending horses to Sir Henry was to show that the stud could compete on the international stage.
"Sir Henry always liked her and thought she could have run in the St Leger last year but she did not mature quickly enough.
"She'll probably go to Ascot next (Fillies' And Mares' Stakes, on Champions Day)."
Hazel Lavery could head to France for her next run while Estimate is likely to step up in trip.
