Jack Dexter: Bronze Cup winner
Jack Dexter won the William Hill Ayr Bronze Cup in style under Graham Lee in the heavy conditions at the Scottish track on Saturday.
The well-supported 5-1 favourite took up the running on the far side just inside the furlong pole and strode clear for a two-and-a-quarter length success.
Ayr specialist Cheveton (6-1) chased him home in second with Best Trip (14-1) third and Roker Park (16-1) fourth.
Last year's winner Coolminx showed up well for a long way but had to settle for fifth in the end.
Trainer Jim Goldie said afterwards: Goldie said: ''A very emotional win. It's great for the Scottish trainers and as we bred the horse it makes it even more exciting.
"He's by Orientor, one of the best horses we've had, and it's a dream that he might come back and go for the Gold Cup next year.''
