Retrieve stayed on well under Frankie Dettori to deny Harris Tweed the Aqlaam Godolphin Stakes at Newmarket.

William Haggas' runner looked to have made a race-winning move under Richard Hughes but Retrieve finished off the contest with relish down the middle of the track and sealed it by a length in the end.

Harris Tweed just held on for third as Songcraft made it a one-three for Godolphin in their own race.

Winning trainer Saeed Bin Suroor said: "He improved a lot. He likes this ground and we'll find a better race, a group race, for him.

"We'll keep his options open - he could run in England or abroad in the mile and a half races."
