Silasol made every yard to land the Total Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp in a three-way finish.

Hopes were high that Purr Along and Agent Allison would play leading roles for the British raiders in the Group One contest over a trip just shy of a mile but Carlos Laffon-Parias' filly led home a one-two-three for the home team.

The daughter of Monsun was settled in front by Olivier Peslier and never relinquished her lead despite being hard-pressed by the eventual runner-up and stablemate, Topaze Blanche, and third, Alterite.

Purr Along was a little slowly into stride and still only had one runner behind her when the sprint for home began; Martin Dwyer tried to weave his way through runners but the May Hill second found her path blocked at every turn although, in truth, she didn't really pick up once in the clear.

Into Season

In contrast, Agent Allison was perfectly placed given the way that the race developed but Jamie Spencer's mount failed to pick up when the tempo quickened and the same could be said of the previously unbeaten favourite Peace Burg.

William Muir said of Purr Along: "She's come into season between leaving the yard yesterday and now. To confound matters she's also pulled off a shoe in front.

"This can affect horses and Martin (Dwyer) was easy on her. She'll be back for the Guineas."

On the first and second, Laffon-Parias said: "Both fillies had shown decent form in conditions races and shown some ability in the morning but there is very little in the programme book so I had to run them both here. It's a great result for us."

Peslier added: "She's been a very progressive filly and this was a good step forward from her previous run. The stable is in very good form and the fresh bit of ground was a big help.

"When the other horses came alongside her it made her go on again."
