Tapizar: Dirt Mile winner
Tapizar turned in a seriously game performance to win the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita.
Steve Asmussen's four-year-old colt was always close to the speed under Corey Nakatani before seizing the initiative at the top of the straight.
Rail Trip valiantly gave chase, but never looked like catching the winner.
Asmussen said: "He's an absolutely beautiful horse.
"Everything went smooth as glass.
"I can't say enough about what a big win this is for me.
"He looked a picture of health and ran very well."
Godolphin's Emcee, trained in America by Kiaran McLaughlin, made the early running but could only finish sixth.
Shackleford blew his chance after stumbling at the start and came home seventh, while Delegation was third.
