Richard Fahey: His Strange Magic finished fourth in France
Mick Channon's Effie B finished a disappointing seventh as Gengis won the Prix Zeddaan at Fontainebleau on Thursday.
The daugher of Sixties Icon was having her seventeenth start of a season that began in a Leicester maiden back in April and was bidding to improve on her second in a Listed race at Newmarket last time out.
However, she failed to fire under Martin Harley, finishing over eight lengths behind the Stephane Pasquier-ridden winner.
The speedy son of Kings Best relished the drop back to six furlongs to claim a first Listed success having been a beaten favourite in this grade over an extra furlong on his preceding start.
Strange Magic, representing Richard Fahey and Freddie Tylicki, finished fourth, beaten just under four lengths.
