Chatterbox wins at Newbury
Chatterbox justified market leadership in the Visit Betfair.com/Racingoffers Novices' Hurdle at Newbury.
Nicky Henderson's five-year-old had won over course-and-distance in December and managed to repeat the dose under the penalty accrued for that victory.
The race developed into something of a sprint as the jockeys elected to ride with restraint in testing conditions.
Barry Geraghty was never too far away on the winner and asked his mount to quicken having made headway with two to jump.
The winner finished two lengths clear of Lac Fontana, who met some mid-race interference though had no answers to an impressive scorer.
The Kim Bailey trained Milord was third.
Sky Bet cut Chatterbox to 16/1 from 25/1 for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Henderson said: "He doesn't do anything spectacular at home, but he's very good when he goes on a racecourse. He's so like Bobs Worth it's untrue."
Asked if Chatterbox would fulfil either of his Cheltenham novice entries, the trainer said: "I suppose he's in there. I think he probably wants another year but he hasn't done a lot wrong."
