Promising apprentice Robert Tart and Strictly Silver claimed the William Hill Lincoln Trial Handicap at Wolverhampton.

Tart has been catching many an eye during the winter and gained the biggest success of his fledgling career aboard the Alan Bailey-trained grey.

Settled in a share of fifth on the rail, he produced his mount with perfect timing to challenge between horses in the straight and Strictly Silver responded well to keep the challenge of Guest Of Honour at bay.

It had appeared as though the runner-up would provide trainer Marco Botti with a big race Dunstall Park double while the Italian handler had saddled Jakkalberry to win in Meydan moments earlier.

Guest Of Honour, however, had raced a shade keenly early on before Andrea Atzeni had managed to get some cover and he had no more to offer close home.

The winning margin was half a length with a further two and a half lengths back to Chapter And Verse in third.

He always travelled nicely through the race, he almost does it too easy," said Tart.

"He did hang left in the last couple of furlongs but he had enough left to take it on the line. He's a lovely horse."Bailey said: "It was a good ride. He just doesn't panic (under pressure) and he goes through the gears. This lad is very good.

"He hurt himself on the gallops and it was doubtful if he would run here but my staff have worked hard to get him here."
