Sir Reginald wins at Newmarket
Richard Fahey's Sir Reginald won the £150,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Sprint at Newmarket on day one of the Craven meeting.
Gelded over the winter, the Jim McGrath-owned son of Compton Place was well backed by punters who sent him off at 4-1.
Paul Hanagan was involved in a bit of scrimmaging with Richard Hills and Madany (7-1) inside the last quarter mile with the Hamdan Al Maktoum filly coming off second best.
She stayed on well to lose by less than a length at the line, but while the stewards' klaxon sounded there was never any danger of the result being reversed.
Khor Seed (100-30 favourite) was a neck off Madany in third.
"I'm so pleased for Jim, as he was basically sold to Hong Kong but he had a tiny little cyst, which meant he couldn't go there," explained Fahey.
"We tried to win the sales races with him last year and he's finally hit the jackpot and Jim wins £83,000 today.
"This has been the target for a long time - it was his Derby."
