Triolo D'Alene continued a good day for Nicky Henderson
Triolo D'Alene (14/1) continued a dream day for Barry Geraghty and Nicky Henderson with victory in the Topham Chase at Aintree.
The jockeys were notably keen to get underway with the race and the starter was forced to recall them on a couple of occasions before finally letting them start.
Dunowen Point, Gullible Gordon and Sizing Santiago were among those to race prominently throughout but the leaders were to come back to the field as they reached the final three fences, and Barry Geraghty looked to be travelling as well as any on the winner.
Geraghty, made his move for home before the elbow and though Walkon emerged as a live threat deep inside the final furlong, there was still three-quarters of a length between the pair as they reached the line.
Last Time D'Albain ran on to be third with Dunowen Point clinging on for fourth.
A delighted Nicky Henderson said of the winner: "Everything was going swimmingly well at home until the weekend when he decided to take one of his shoes off during the night and tread on it. The boys have done an amazing job.
"His jumping is exemplary and the trip was right."
Little Josh, who led briefly at Bechers, took a heavy fall in the race and sadly had to be put down after vets found that he had broken his shoulder.
Grand National-winning trainer Twiston-Davies paid tribute to Little Josh, and did not attribute blame to the much-scrutinised fences.
He said: "He's gone out doing what he loved the most, he's jumped round those fences before and it's one of those things.
"It could happen anywhere, it could happen at home and it's not the fences - it could have happened at a park course.
"It's desperate, as he is one of Sam's favourite horses and he has been a great servant."
