Fiesolana: Won the Fairy Bridge Stakes

Fiesolana revelled in a drop back in trip to win the Coolmore Stud Fairy Bridge Stakes at Tipperary.

The William McCreery-trained filly found nine furlongs a bridge too far in the Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh last month, but was in her element here.

Sent off a 9/4 chance to win her third Group Three of the year, jockey Billy Lee was never far off a generous pace set by Hint Of A Tint and One Spirit.

Fiesolana was fleetingly trapped for room as Bronte refused to yield, but Lee stayed strong and brave to nudge his companion into the clear.

The daughter of Aussie Rules made her winning move approaching the last of the seven and a half furlongs and gamely held off Sea Siren, the 2/1 favourite, by a length and a quarter.

McCreery said:" It all went according to plan as Billy felt there would be a strong pace. She's very uncomplicated and the main thing is not to take a pull out of her. When she shot clear she started to look around.

"She may go to Longchamp now on Arc weekend for the Prix de la Foret over seven furlongs as there isn't a lot for her here.

"She ran here at the start of the year on soft ground and had good form in France on soft, so the ground doesn't seem to make much difference to her.

"She is a big, strong filly and I didn't mind her carrying 9st 10lb as she is well able for it. She wouldn't look out of place in a National Hunt race as she has a fine, big frame.

"I thought she was a bit undercooked coming here but she doesn't take a lot of work."
