Dank and Ryan Moore come out on top in the Filly & Mare Turf
Dank produced a gritty display to win the Breeders' Cup Filly And Mare Turf for Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore.
The winner of the Beverly D. Stakes broke well but was then a shade keen for a few strides as Moore settled her in behind the early pace.
Emollient took the field along by a couple of lengths and the eventual winner was soon on an even keel in second with market rivals Romantica and Marketing Mix just in behind.
Moore made his move on the turn for home and it looked as though the pair might stretch clear in the straight but she never put daylight between herself and the closers and had to dig really deep to repel the challengers.
Romantica, who was one of the first under pressure when the pace quickened, completed a one-two for the Europeans with Alterite in third.
Moore said: "She had everything right today and I could ride her that way. I didn't have to take too many chances because she was the best filly in the race. She wasn't as brilliant today as in her last race (the Beverly D. at Arlington Park), but she still ran a very good race."
Sir Michael Stoute added; "We knew from stall (post) 1 we wouldn't get pushed on the inside. She seemed a bit fresh early on but Ryan knew what to do. I don't mind going into the winner's enclosure. I'd like to keep her in training next year and I'm going to have to be quite persuasive."
