Ladies Are Forever sports a natty line in blinkers as she holds off Joyeuse to score at York again.
Ladies Are Forever was applauded from the course back to the winner's enclosure after the winning the Group Three Totepool Summer Stakes for the third time at York.
The remarkable mare had conditions perfectly to suit with the going plainly on the fast side of good, weather forecasts for rain having failed to prove accurate.
She travelled best of the 11-strong field from an early stage under Danny Tudhope and when the gap opened up, the 7/2 joint-favourite burst clear.
Fellow market-leader Joyeuse came out of the pack in pursuit but although she was closing fast at the line, the winner had done enough to score by a head. Indignant (10/1) finished a further length and three-quarters back in a race run in a notably fast time of 1m 09.3seconds.
Winning trainer Geoff Oldroyd was delighted with the victory, and that owner Reg Bond - who has been seriously ill with a brain tumour and pneumonia - was able to make it to the racecourse for the first time this year, but she's just so tough.
"Her mother, who has only bred winners, is currently in foal to Frankel, so let's hope there are many more to come.
"She's just an amazing mare. I might take her to Goodwood [for the Oak Tree Stakes] as I think on fast ground the trip [seven furlongs] wouldn't be a problem."
