Verdict

Firmament was only caught in the closing stages of last year’s renewal but is 3lb higher this time round. Makzeem returned from a short break to win at Newmarket last Saturday but is penalised for that success but Flaming Spear won over a mile at York before floundering in testing going at Haydock. MOJITO continued his rapid progress when landing a hat-trick in good style with a victory at York in August and the Haggas colt is taken to defy a further hike in the weights. Lord Glitters has won a couple of conditions races in France this year and joins David O’Meara’s yard while Straight Right is another import from France who ran well for Andrew Balding at Goodwood last time. Mjjack has found only one too good in a couple of tough handicaps over track and trip the last twice now while Johnny Barnes beat subsequent winner Burnt Sugar at Goodwood and Birchwood could also go well.
