Verdict

This has attracted the winners of the English, Irish and French 2000 Guineas and the classic winners should dominate. Galileo Gold was beaten two-and-a-half lengths by Awtaad at the Curragh after winning at Newmarket but was caught in a pocket when the winner quickened. He's likely to get closer today with a clear run, though may not be able to turn the tables on Kevin Prendergast's colt. THE GURKHA was thrown in at the deep end in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains at Deauville after winning a Navan maiden but showed himself to be well up to the task by drawing clear of outsider First Selection. The opposition may not have been as strong as in the English and Irish versions but he's only had three runs so is still on an upward curve and can complete the hat-trick with recent rain in his favour. Zonderland beat Cymric at Sandown but is held by Galileo Gold on the form book and Emotionless hasn't been seen since disappointing in last year's Dewhurst.
