    Verdict

With ante post favourite Polar Bear only a reserve this looks likely to go to Mine, who is preferred to Selective and El Coto. The last mentioned put a disappointing effort in the Lincoln behind him when winning Newbury's Spring Cup in decisive fashion but has suffered at the hands of the handicapper since then. John Hammond's Maksad is an interesting runner from France and has to be respected along with Camp Commander, who goes well here, and Golden Chalice, who bounced back to form last time. A bigger threat seems likely to come from Alex Stewart's Selective who made an encouraging reappearance at Thirsk recently and should have come on for the outing but the vote goes to Mine. James Bethell's gelding has the beating of Selective on Thirsk form and ran up to his showing there when finding Autumn Glory too good at York last time when given too much to do and when not helped by a bad draw. There should be no such problems to day and, with the in-form Richard Quinn taking the ride, Mine gets the vote.
