Verdict

BUCKLAND GOLD looks a good bet to land this handicap chase; the list of alternatives is headed by Ice Bucket and Michigan d'Isop. The selection won well when last seen out and although he has a 7lbs penalty to contend with here, he scored impressively enough to suggest that he should be able to cope. Ice Bucket is a model of consistency but he has only managed to get his head in front twice and his habit of finding one too good does temper confidence in him. Michigan d'Isop is a capable performer on his day but he has now gone 16 races without a win and he may have to settle for the role of bridesmaid again here. Sammy Spiderman has a decent strike-rate but his best form is on really testing ground and on that basis he is worth swerving today. Buckland Gold is in good form and he can win again.
