In depth

Verdict

Gordon Elliott sent WHIZZZEY RASCAL to Ayr last week and Richard Johnson steered him to a very convincing victory. He arrives here with a 7lb penalty but that doesn't look enough to prevent a quick double. Litterale Ci, a dual winner on the Flat in France, made a fair debut for new connections when a couple of lengths behind Evening Hush at Exeter but was then beaten a long way by that winner in a Listed event at Aintree where she never got involved. She's better than that and her allowances can enable her to prove a threat. Owners Day was the shock winner of a Wincanton maiden before defying a last-flight blunder to land a novices' contest at Fakenham. He's since been well beaten on the all-weather but looks a progressive type who can make a bold bid. Hope's Wishes completed a handicap double last spring but her two runs this season have left plenty to be desired.
