In depth

Verdict

OSIRIS WAY is selected ahead of Matsunosuke and Prior Warning. This race provides a decent opportunity for one of this eight to resume winning ways and bag a nice prize but all have been struggling in more competitive races than this for one reason or another and none boast compelling claims here as a result. The vote goes the way of Osiris Way who is potentially still on the upgrade and is probably a more consistent and straightforward ride than many in this line-up but it's hard to be confident about his chances having seen the way he weakened so dramatically at Goodwood last time. Matusunosuke comes into the race in decent form and has been threatening to pick up a race for a few runs now; his hold-up style of running means that he does need the race to be run to suit and his supporters will be heartened by the fact that three of his career wins have been achieved in fields of nine runners. Prior Warning finished behind Secret Asset at Haydock last time but the latter was better suited by the prevailing conditions there and Debbie Mountain's charge may be able to reverse the form with conditions riding on the soft side of good. He should go close if reproducing the form of July's Newmarket second but Osiris Way is taken to bounce back from that below par effort and land the spoils.
