        Verdict

A desperate contest can go to Fossgate, who is selected ahead of Parkview Love and Gulf Coast. There may also be some mileage to be gained with an each-way interest in Red Fama, who has taken his racing well since his return this year. The four-year-old is one to monitor in the betting. Gulf Coast loves this track and can be guaranteed to get up the hill near the finish. He is only 3lb higher in the weights than for last month's success in a ladies race, so has to merit respect on these terms. Parkview Love is a wily old character that still posses the ability to be a threat in this company. However, he was readily brushed aside at Ripon and appears to face stiff test to get the better of his old adversary. So, assuming the recent activities have not taken their toll, Fossgate is selected as the one to side with in the finale.
