Verdict

Evenlode made a belated debut on soft ground at Thirsk where he stayed on from the rear in the closing stages. This stiffer track should suit though whether he'll act on the quicker ground is another matter. Sunnyside Bob finished over 6l behind in fourth on his first start for David O'Meara but he couldn't act on the going and is better judged on last year's efforts on this sort of ground. The filly Coronation Day has had both starts to date over 7f so may find this a bit sharp, a remark that also applies to Kingthistle, so the vote goes to GENO. Kevin Ryan's charge has been showing very good pace on fast going over 6f but not quite getting home so today's stiff 5f should prove ideal. Ryedale Rio showed definite signs of progress on his second start on Newcastle's all-weather track and isn't out of this.
