In depth

Verdict

In a competitive event, the vote goes to Isitloveyourafter ahead of Motu, Beauty Of Dreams, Temper Tantrum, Compton Banker, Hollywood Henry and Doringo. The locally-trained Isitloveyourafter was expected to win at Nottingham last time so sets about a retrieving mission at this shorter trip tonight. Granting him plenty of respect from a canny yard, we will give him the vote. Motu has now dropped to a fairly attractive mark and should be noted in the ring, while a repeat of the type of form that saw Beauty Of Dreams finish second to Strong Hand at Carlisle on May 12th, brings her firmly into the mix. A replication of last summer's form would make Compton Banker a, well, banker, while Hollywood Henry is back to the mark from which he won at Warwick last summer, and triple course winner Temper Tantrum holds excellent claims if at his best, the cheekpieces he normally wears being back on from his latest run. Kumakawa actually ran quite well over a shorter trip last time, although his best form form overall is on the all-weather. The lightly raced Cross My Shadow showed improvement in a tongue-tie last time and might improve again, while Doringo ran his best race to date when second here off his current mark last time and, set to go up by two pounds in future ratings, is entitled to respect. Shamwari Fire is possibly better over further, while Fulvio certainly has place prospects based on fairly recent course form. Lord Chamberlain caught the eye here three runs ago and, from a three-pound lower mark tonight, can't be discounted. Overall, though, particularly if supported, we will side with Isitloveyourafter.
