Verdict

If CARLITO BRIGANTE can get back to anywhere near his former glories there can only be one winner. The former Gordon Elliott star has run at Aintree and Cheltenham on his first two starts for new connections and this represents a significant drop in class. Storming Gale hasn't been in the best of form since scoring at Ayr around a year ago and finished tailed off at Newcastle last time so it could be Billy Cuckoo who gives the selection most to think about. He scored on good to soft going at Doncaster in February and may have found the ground too testing in subsequent starts. Stagecoach Pearl was well supported at Kelso last time but disappointed and was behind Lucky Landing at Wetherby in October. The latter has been competing at a much higher level and his rider's claim can see him go well.
