Verdict

A 6lb penalty may prevent Beat The Shower from following up his recent win here over 1m4f and a better bet looks to be NO WONGA, who gets the vote over Royal Trooper. James Given's colt has run creditably when encountering cut in the ground before and he looks reasonably well treated so has to be considered. Jeremy Glover's Red Wine has run well on a soft surface before but has disappointed of late and looks best watched with a bigger threat looking to be Nakoma. Brian Ellison's mare won well at Newcastle last month and has every chance off a 3lb higher mark today but this looks tougher. Soundbyte has yet to confirm that he handles ground this soft and of more interest may be Eijaaz, who handles cut in the ground and is only 1lb higher than when scoring here last year. The vote then goes to the David Evans-trained No Wonga, who has done most of his racing on a soft surface, and a reproduction of recent form should see him resume winning ways.
