Verdict

KERSIVAY looks to have a good opportunity to break his duck today and gets the vote ahead of Fortunate Flame. David Barker has been among the winners of late and Kersivay went close to being one of them when a half length third in a fast ground Musselburgh maiden on his seasonal reappearance. He should be even sharper for that run, conditions suit, and if he runs up to his BHA rating he should prove tough to beat. Fortunate Flame drops back in trip here after pulling away his chance on debut at Southwell. The shorter trip might help in that regard but he has it to prove on this much quicker ground too. Dandy Nicholls saddles Bootleg, who was last of six on debut at Ayr last autumn. With the stable going well we could see plenty of improvement for a winter under his belt. Miss Porky is likely to come on for her Pontefract debut and the step up in trip today, but preference is for Kersivay.
