Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Rowan Lodge is selected in a weak affair, with Kastan, Travelling Band, Goodwood Spirit and Homecroft Boy others to consider. With Seb Sanders booked to ride, Rowan Lodge can be fancied to finally get his head in front, having been placed on a few occasions already this year. The Mark Tompkins-trained five-year-old last visited the winner's enclosure in a first-time visor at Yarmouth in October 2006, but has only had six runs since then, and is worth another try. Kastan showed a glimpse of form in similar company at Brighton and may continue to progress, while Travelling Band showed that this is more or less his level when third at Nottingham. Goodwood Spirit's trainer is always to be feared on this track, and Homecroft Boy has a squeak on his latest run at Leicester. They appear to be the leading lights, with Rowan Lodge taken to shine.
