In depth

Verdict

Whitby Jack was strongly fancied a better race at Ascot last week but was among the first beaten. The longer trip may have been to blame and he would have claims on last month's win at Kempton. Soft ground won't faze Scorched Son while James Cowley takes 7lb off landscape, who has won at Exeter and Taunton this season. SHAMMICK BOY was trying to give 5lb to Billy Twyford at Wetherby three weeks ago. That ties him in closely with Landscape on collateral form and Victor Dartnall's gelding can go one better today. Captain Sharpe could be well treated on last season's form but has found life tough this term while All Annalena isn't getting any better.
