In depth

Verdict

This looks a question of whether ASCRIPTION can overcome the worst draw of all. It's no surprise to see him running with a penalty after a comprehensive victory at Goodwood on Tuesday as he'll be hit hard by the assessor and hopefully he can avoid crowding and stay out of trouble. Lord Of The Dance won a lady amateurs' race at Ascot in very easy fashion but the handicapper has had his say with a massive 11lb rise, which looks excessive. Shamdarley looked ready to win and did so on Polytrack at Kempton but he's now on his highest-ever mark on his 25th start. Shebebi has produced his best form on fast ground so wouldn't want any more rain.
