Verdict

Anak Pekan was most impressive in the Queen¿s Prize at Kempton and can land this Chester Cup at the expense of Misternando and Distant Prospect. Michael Jarvis¿s gelding steadily moved up the weights last season but never stopped improving, and judging by his five length beating of Teresa he is still on the upgrade and can defy the handicapper again. Misternando was a terrific servant for Mick Channon last year and following a pipe opener at Ascot he should be spot on for this. Distant Prospect finished seven lengths behind the selection at Doncaster last season but is over a stone better off today, he has also had a very successful hurdles campaign so will lack nothing in fitness. Of the others Archduke Ferdinand is noticeably dropping down the handicap and could run into the places at a big price. As usual it is a very competitive event but Anak Pekan does appear to hold all the aces.
