Rothesay Chancer continues to defy the handicapper and has now won three times under Gary Bartley. Jim Goldie's gelding seems sure to run his race again, despite another career-high mark, but may just find MUFFRAAJ too strong in the closing stages. He drops down a grade after finishing fifth at Newmarket but didn't get much of a run at HQ and caught the eye here in May when just touched off by subsequent winner King Ferdinand. From his low draw, he looks the one to beat. Top weight Louis The Pious is in good heart and can't be discounted but the lightly-weighted Hoover looks worth opposing from a wide berth.
