In depth

Verdict

Toscanini was beaten a short-head by Mattmu in this last year with Fort Del Oro two lengths further behind. The latter easily reversed the form in a Listed contest on the track in October and is the more consistent of the pair though there should be little between them again. Eastern Impact is a very smart sprinter at this level and his latest run at Chester is best forgotten. Richard Fahey's charge looks certain to go well as does Flight Risk, who is very closely matched with Toscanini and Fort Del Oro through several lines of form. AIR FORCE BLUE won the Phoenix Stakes a year ago before easily landing the Dewhurst. He started odds-on for the 2000 Guineas but finished almost last. Another poor run in the Irish version here followed then he was dropped back to this trip for the July Cup where he got no sort of run. He obviously has a lot of ground to make up but he's given another chance to prove himself.
