Half of the last ten renewals have been won by three-year-olds and four from UK-based runners. David O'Meara brought Penitent here for a Group 3 won by Duntle last month but the six-year-old was nowhere near his best and can do much better as he showed when landing a Group 2 at Sandown in April when Famous Name was a long way behind. The heavy ground was against Dermot Weld's charge that day and he's proved in subsequent runs that this track and trip plus quicker ground is what he requires so it will be a surprise if he's not involved in the finish. Declaration Of War is a very interesting entry having won both starts on all-weather surfaces in France last year. He hasn't been seen since December but entries in Group 1's in the autumn suggest he's expected to go well. LADY WINGSHOT is progressing at a rate of knots and has twice beaten the useful Yellow Rosebud recently. She's stepping up in trip here but should have no problems and should be good enough.
