Connections of Petronius Maximus wouldn't have envisaged him running in a maiden at this time of year after his power-packed finish in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. He slipped up on his next start but disappointed behind Stage Master here last time and may not be up to conceding the fillies allowance to SHELLEY BEACH despite first-time blinkers. David Wachman's expensive purchase ran a superb race behind the Ballydoyle filly Look At Me over 7f here last month and the winner did the form no harm when runner-up in a Group 3 at Newmarket subsequently. Vastitas made a very promising debut behind Juliet Capulet on fast ground at Leopardstown and the going may have been too soft for her on this track a week later which doesn't augur well for her chances in today's conditions.
